Woodstock Revival

About the Woodstock Festival

First and foremost, of course, the idea of the festival was "love, peace and music", but it was above all a party event. Of course, the looks were typical of the 60s and 70s. First of all, the colors explode with ethnic patterns, tie and dye and knitwear. Secondly, the clothes are cut wide: Nothing is minimalist about the long dresses, flared pants or long shirt collars. Fringes are also a must for this look. They adorn jackets, vests and shirts and give the silhouette a touch of freedom.

A natural hairstyle is a must. The hair is adorned with a wreath of flowers. Not forgetting the thousands of necklaces and sautoirs ...

All of these looks were seen in this summer of love, peace and music and today at the Woodstock Revival concerts. You can feel the soul of a cool Baba, accompanied by the desire to pull out old grigris and suede boots and show off a long, wild mane. In other words: go to a concert and wear the hippie look!

The spirit of the hippies:

  • The Volkswagen station wagon: long-haired hippies flocked to Woodstock in this legendary model.
  • The round glasses: These eye-catching glasses are an essential accessory for every Woodstock festival-goer and a symbol of the flower power movement.
  • Patchouli: This woody, camphoraceous aroma was brought into fashion by the hippies. In fact, the scent of this tropical plant is reminiscent of nature, especially the smell of undergrowth. This is why incense also became fashionable.
  • LSD: Not necessarily "peace and love", LSD was the hippies' favorite drug. However, cannabis was also consumed at Woodstock.
  • The "Peace and Love" symbol: Created in 1958 by British anti-nuclear activists, the emblem was then adopted by the hippies and beatniks as a symbol of peace, non-violence and also pacifism.
  • The headband: this is the accessory that goes with the glasses. Every real hippie wore a colorful headband around their head. One of the stars of Woodstock, the famous guitarist Jimi Hendrix, was a fan of this band.
