The Blue Onions – Blues Brothers Tribute Band
“Times have changed, you know? … So, what are you guys going to do? The same old routine? In those same crappy suits? People run away when they see you!”
[Maury Sline, The Blues Brothers]
YES – that’s exactly what we do: the same old routine, in the same crappy suits, and we promise: “We used to always knock those guys in the stores over!”
[Elwood Blues]
THE BLUES BROTHERS TRIBUTEBAND
The band performs with up to 11 musicians and features a lineup identical to that of the legendary Blues Brothers Band from the 1980 cult classic. The Blue Onions are a showstopper in a class of their own—an explosive, action-packed live Blues Brothers tribute band that is every bit as good as the original.
“We turn goat urine into gasoline!”
[Donald “Duck” Dunn, The Blues Brothers]
THE BLUES BROTHERS TRIBUTESHOW
In addition to Jake & Elwood, the show features other musical highlights from the film (not a musical!) such as our Aretha Franklin impersonator “Patricia Blues”: backed by her soul sisters, she delivers stunning performances of the two iconic songs “Think” and “Respect”—the icing on the cake of the show. Or our Ray Charles impersonator, who takes things over the top with the iconic song “Shake Your Tailfeather,” or Cleophus James (James Brown impersonator) performing the song “Old Landmark.”
OPTIONAL
These include Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, and James Brown, as well as cops, cowboys, the Bluesmobile, and other police cars from the movie, along with many props—all of which can be added to your booking. Each of these add-ons is a unique highlight in its own right and perfectly rounds out the live show.
AND HERE'S HOW IT LOOKS:
While the band kicks off the concert with an instrumental set, Jake & Elwood drive right up to the stage in the authentic police cruiser (a 1974 Dodge Monaco Sedan with a V8 engine), followed by other police cars from our Blues Brothers fleet, provided local conditions allow it.
The Bluesmobile is 6 meters long and weighs just under 2 tons. Escorted by tough, authentically uniformed police officers who drag Jake & Elwood out of the car, handcuff them, bring them onto the stage, and—after the “Peter Gun Theme”—kick off the show, the officers constantly guard the band and frequently have to intervene, arrest, and take them away at just the right moments, but they also get swept up in the dancing time and again.
During the show, the Good ol’ Boys suddenly step into the spotlight after the lights go out (!) during “Give Me Some Loving”—they’re constantly on the lookout for Jake & Elwood.
WIR KÖNNEN ES SELBST NICHT GLAUBEN,
that Dan Aykroyd himself, the REAL Elwood Blues, American legend and Hollywood star, creator of the classic 1980s film *The Blues Brothers*, who appeared on stage as a special guest at a Blue Onions concert in 2014 and was himself part of the authentic and rousing show.
